A modern warrior and rising star of the 7th art, actress Gaia Weiss shared her strengths and beliefs with us during an interview.
In her own words, Gaia Weiss is… “ a stuntwoman of emotion .”
" One of my mentors once told me, 'Actors are emotional stuntmen.' I find myself in that description. In stunts, we think of falls, but also of strength, adrenaline, and that feeling of freedom that I find on stage or on film sets. A desire for freedom that perhaps comes from being the descendant of generations of nomads. "
All women have faced a struggle at one time or another. What was the biggest challenge in your life?
“ I think I've always refused to be pigeonholed. Generally, people try to define you and put you in a box.
What motivates me in my career as an actress is the fact that I can take on different roles and express an aspect of my personality through each of them.
I was very lucky to be able to play very different characters, but I had to fight, and move to London, to avoid being pigeonholed into roles solely linked to my looks. "
When do you feel you need to be strong?
"For a long time, I felt excluded because I didn't clearly belong to a community. My father is French, my mother is Polish, and from a very young age, I started traveling, spending time abroad, in Poland, in England. At school, I was too "like this," not "like that" enough; wherever I went, I felt like a foreigner; people didn't understand me, and I couldn't understand others. Today, it's precisely the fact of being steeped in several cultures, different traditions, and being the heir to a rich family history that gives me strength. Understanding where I come from has allowed me to build myself as a woman; it's the driving force behind my creativity; from there comes my curiosity about the world and about others. "
In turn made of shadows and lights, such are women, echoing the moon that governs us.
What is your light side, what is your dark side?
" I find my light by trying to keep a childlike outlook, to continue to marvel at simple things, to cultivate optimism. But sometimes I let myself be overwhelmed by anxieties and I fall into a vicious circle: perfectionism, procrastination, punishment. I can be extremely uncompromising and that is ultimately my greatest weakness. "
Express your most important conviction, the one that guides your steps in life.
“ I often come back to this phrase: “When things change inside you, they change around you.”
It's an opportunity to remind myself that we are the creators of our reality. "
Mind upload. Our heroine Alyh uploads her mind into a universe in which she evolves and surpasses herself.
What skills would you develop if the adventure were offered to you?
“ I’ve always dreamed of having the ability to teleport! On the one hand, we could significantly reduce our carbon footprint, it would be a huge time saver, I could finally spend time with my friends and family living all over the world, and then… I’ve always dreamed of a world without borders where everyone could learn from each other’s cultures. ”
Take us to your safe space?
Alyh uses her imagination to create a world somewhere between solar punk and brutalism. What would yours look like?
“ There are two places where I feel incredibly good. In the desert. I am fascinated by the immensity of the desert; you find yourself in the middle of imposing mountains like old wise men who have been there for millennia. And in the forests, always with a slightly mountainous side, like an initiatory path, where the old wise men here take on the appearance of century-old trees. My safe space is a bit like a mix of the two. ”
Never give up on... What would you say to your best friend or your child?
“ Never give up on your dearest dreams. They may evolve over time, they may become more precise, but if you feel inspired by something, go for it, do it. I am convinced that we can contribute to a better world by following what inspires us; our instinct is our best guide. We just have to learn to listen to it. ”
The best… What are you most proud of?
" I am proud to be able to live from my passion, and to gradually realize that the greatest freedom there is is the one we develop within ourselves. "
